Dawson Support Staff Union / Syndicat du personnel de soutien de Dawson
Looking for former students in the college system!
“You may be entitled to a lump sum payment”
Anne Dionne, President of the Fédération du personnel de soutien de l’enseignement supérieur (CSQ)
Last June, the Fédération du personnel de soutien de l’enseignement supérieur (FPSES-CSQ), which is affiliated to the Centrale des syndicats du Québec (CSQ), signed an important agreement putting an end to a discriminatory wage practice that penalized thousands of student employees, specifically between 2007 and 2015.
The agreement was the outcome of complaints submitted to the Pay Equity Commission in 2007 by student employees who were members of the Syndicat du personnel de soutien du Cégep de Sherbrooke, a union affiliated to the FPSES-CSQ.
The agreement provides for the payment of lump sums to a large majority of student employees who worked between January 1, 2007 and December 19, 2015. The agreement specifically targets those who performed administrative or technical work, as well as those who worked as animators, monitors or swimming pool supervisors. If you worked as a student employee in a Quebec college during this period, you may be entitled to receive lump sum payments.
We encourage these people to contact the support staff union in the college where they worked as student employees or to communicate directly with the FPSES-CSQ to know their rights and the procedures they need to follow to receive the lump sum.
